Kennemerland Security Region
Emergency Assistance services in the Netherlands have been collaborating for some time already. To improve deployment of such services in case of disaster, contingency or crisis control, the Minister of the Interior decided to set up 25 Security Regions nationwide. Security Region Kennemerland (VRK) is one of the first to be operative. It is the organisation in charge of safety, security and health in the Kennemerland area. It includes Kennemerland Public Health Service (GGD Kennemerland), the Kennemerland Fire Brigade and the Kennemerland Security Agency. The Kennemerland Incident Room and Information Centre (ambulance, fire brigade and police incident rooms) also joined VRK.
VRK started using Viadesk to have a central system that allowed controlled document access. Currently, only the Fire Brigade is using Viadesk. Until recently, the area had ten separate municipal fire brigades. They recently merged to form the Kennemerland Fire Brigade, but still operate from different locations. Viadesk helps the people in the new organisation to collaborate more easily by ensuring that everyone has access to the documents s/he needs to have access to. Peter Duin of VRK: "We needed a place where we could share documents. At the moment we store our documents for meetings on Viadesk, as well as resolutions and policy papers so colleagues at all locations always have access to the correct and approved versions of the documents. We made a first, cautious start and everything has met our expectations so far, and is to our satisfaction. The system enables us to manage and control the information well."
Once the new organisation has taken a more definite shape, Viadesk will be introduced to the rest of the organisation as well. "We like working with Viadesk, because it is easy for us to determine who has access to what. Not only is it very useful for confidential information, it is also of great help for the procedures of the day-to-day working processes. We are very happy with Viadesk. It is both functional and easy to use."
